Where Is Our Home?

Where Is Our Home?

A photo booth created to take pictures of Occupy Sandy organizers and residents of hurricane-affected areas.

This project echoes and builds upon symbols and gestures used in other examples of artistic movement production: by Barcelona-based artists involved in local housing campaigns, and by artists and organizers affiliated with the Occupy Homes movement.

In this version the symbol of a roof was incarnated as a hand gesture held over the head. The result was a powerful visual means of communicating a collective demand for housing. (The symbol is still used by Occupy Sandy and Occupy Homes groups in the U.S.)
