Strike Debt’s Rolling Jubilee Telethon
Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum performs at the Rolling Jubilee telethon.
Occupy Wall Street offshoot group Strike Debt held a live-streamed telethon cabaret November 15th to launch the Rolling Jubilee campaign. Strike Debt has formed a legal entity that, like collection agencies, buys bundled debt for pennies on the dollar. Rather than collecting it, they wipe it out. The telethon raised nearly $500,000 — enough to erase more than $9 million of medical debt.
Not An Alternative designed the visuals for the event, including stage design and backdrops, installations, “Hello My Debt Is ____” name tags, flags, patches, and video projections.
